Review: Above Rubies Magazine

A few comments about Above Rubies Magazine

This is the inscription on the second page of the above Rubies magazine describing the magazine as follows:

“above Rubies is a magazine to encourage women in their high calling as wives, mothers and homemakers. Its purpose is to uphold and strengthen family life and to raise the standard of God’s truth in the nation. The name has been chosen from Proverbs 31.10 AMP, “a capable, intelligent and virtuous women, who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far ABOVE RUBIES or pearls.”

I thought I would copy that into this article as there is no other way to describe this magazine and what an inspiration it is. They also have a brilliant website and I was just reading an article from the editor where she was writing about her family. I learnt something very important from that article and that is how we must pray for the generations to come not just for the here and now. Colin’s grandmothers (Colin is Nancy Campbell’s husband) was an intercessor and prayed for the coming generations. Nancy’s daughters also write numerous articles and others can also submit articles of their experiences.

I am an avid reader of the Above Rubies magazine. One of the things I enjoy in the evening, after the children are in bed and the house is quiet is to take my magazine and a cup of chamomile tea, get into bed and read. It is so encouraging that by the time I have read just a couple of articles I feel so blessed and privileged that I am a mother of four beautiful children, a wife and a homemaker.

The magazine was founded by Nancy Campbell in New Zealand a number of years ago. Her writings are just wonderful. I often feel so sad when I think of the time when we lived in England where I had the opportunity of actually meeting her but through my ignorance and not knowing much about Above Rubies missed it. I was homeschooling my two older girls at the time and used to get together with a group of ladies and their children to do various activities. At one of the activities one of the ladies, who was from New Zealand, asked if I would like to go and have lunch at her house where Nancy Campbell would be speaking. I turned her down not realising what a blessing I was turning away.

If you go to the bove Rubies http://aboverubies.org you will be able to find out how you can subscribe. I highly recommend this magazine to you for good and uplifting reading.
